| Biography: STIX BONES
Brooklyn, USA, Home to some of the greatest talents the world has ever known delivers another talented individual whose gift has made him one of the finest musicians in the Tri - State Area.
Stix Bones started playing drums at an early age in church. He developed a great passion for music listening to Funk and R&B, introduced to him by his older brother. After seeing performances by Brooklyn’s own The Fat Boys featuring Buffy the Human Beat Box he became influenced to play Hip Hop. Stix jammed with rappers playing beats with his hands on the hood of cars, city bus windows, and tables in the school lunchroom.
Stix’s career direction evolved when he entered college in Westchester, New York. He received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance. While in school, he gigged with his professors in local restaurants, nursing homes, and elementary schools. Stix often returned to New York City to sit in at jam sessions. Creating a buzz for himself he was called to play open mic sessions and landed his first weekly gig at Indigo Blue with the Teddy B. Quartet.
During Stix’s last year in college he went on a European tour with NYC Poets The Vibe Khameleons. Stix gained great credibility there being the only musician performing with the group. A few months after his return to The States, Stix was introduced to Poetess Jessica Care Moore. Together they toured colleges across the country, performed in major New York City Venues, and featured at the world famous Apollo Theater. Stix continued to show his flexibility and professional skills by accompanying on stage artists such as Doug E. fresh, De La Soul, Mos Def, The Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron, and Q Tip of a tribe called Quest
Producer /Musician Michael Zager gave Stix his first recording session on his compilation album “In the Spirit” which featured Jazz legend Joe Williams. Stix continued to do session work with other producers but Hip Hop producers unfortunately only sampled old jazz and funk records for their drums. This influenced Stix to record “Bones Beats Vol. 1”.An acoustic drum album with over 30 patterns and sounds. The album sampled by some of the best producers in the industry.
Stix Bones who’s musical influences are a mix of Gospel, Hip Hop and Jazz musicians has built a respectable name amongst R&B, Jazz & Hip Hop artist and is credited as one of most talented drummers of our time.

"Groove Like This"- The new Smooth Jazz album by Stix Bones gives you head knodding beats with soulful instrument voices featuring the hit single" Dance With Me" This album is available now at Itunes.com, Rhapsody.com, Emusic.com, Napster.com, and CD Baby.com - Downbeat Magazine.
It’s all about the dusky groove on drummer/producer STIX BONES’ GROOVE LIKE THIS (Bone Entertainment no#1). For the most part, the session (Double Jointed/The Beginning/Deveter’s Groove/ My Favorite Things/Together 4 Ever/Dance With Me/ Stix Café/ L.O.V.E./Cruisin’ In the Sunset / For You. 51:45) focuses on mellow, late night jams like the sultry, “The Beginning”.
Yes, the Quiet Storm is in full effect for Brown and his band (Richard D’Abreu, Jr., as, b, Fender Rhodes, kybds; John Terco, g; Butch Campbell, g; Bob Marback, kybds, strings; Courtney McCain, p; Vinnessa Laine, vcl; Al Brisbane, b; Stix Bones,d(2006 Jamaica, NY) and fans of this type of thing will enjoy the 70esque “Cruisin’ In the Sunset” or the sure to be a Smooth Jazz radio hit, “Double Jointed,” with it’s alto soaring over the keyboard-centric bump.
There are a number of other soulful slow burners obviously meant for the purpose of “setting the mood” (check out “For You”). But hey, you can’t fault Stix for attempting to make Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things” ready for radio. A record meant to encourage listeners to “relax and unwind” which should please instrumental R&B devotees.-Cadence Magazine.
