| Biography: With 25 years of musical experience under his belt, New York producer and CEO of PhattGroov Entertainment, Donovan "Phattgroov" Henderson seeks to take the urban Atlanta market by storm. Its a movement. PhattGroov says. I call it Nu-Jazz. A collaboration of rhythm and soul, new and old, north and south." With the recent emergence and tremendous success of the PhattGroov Project, his own jazz band, PhattGroov has expanded into the southern region, taking his smooth grooves, unique sound, and piercing percussion style with him.
Born into a musical family in Kingston, New York, PhattGroov started his career as soon as his motor skills would let him- he was last in his line to play drums. All of his cousins were either singing in choir or playing an instrument and one of his uncles, Tony Lindsay, was lead vocalist for Grammy-award winning, Carlos Santana, for over 15 years.
Combining heavy bass lines and melodic overtones with a touch of smoothness and rhythm, the PhattGroov Project gives birth to a nu-jazz sound like no other. PhattGroov believes that music is the ultimate collaboration, and it is this belief that has brought him to the Atlanta area. Appearing with his band in several local hot-spots all-over Atlanta, PhattGroov is one of the most-sought after independent jazz artists in the area.

Release:
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 20, 2006 -- With
almost 30 years of musical experience under his belt,
New York producer and CEO of PhattGroov
Entertainment, Donovan "Phattgroov" Henderson
seeks to take the urban Atlanta market by storm.
Its a movement, PhattGroov says. I call it Nu-
Jazz. A collaboration of rhythm and soul, new and
old, north and south." With the recent emergence
and tremendous success of the PhattGroov Project,
his own jazz band, PhattGroov has expanded into the
southern region, taking his smooth grooves, unique
sound, and piercing percussion style with him.
Born into a musical family in Kingston, New York,
PhattGroov started his career as soon as his motor
skills would let him - he was last in his line to play
drums. With my uncle as pastor of our family
church, most of my early 'gigs' happened there,
PhattGroov likes to joke. All of his cousins were
either singing in choir or playing an instrument and
one of his uncles, Tony Lindsay, was lead vocalist for
Grammy-award winning, Carlos Santana, for over 15
years. Music was in his genes, and a career in music
composition, production, and performance was
eminent.
In 2003, PhattGroov started his own jazz band,
named the PhattGroov Project and has since then
collaborated with a number of acclaimed musical
talents. Sharing the stage with great artists such as
Carl Rives (bass), Gordon Campbell (drums), and
Melvin Byrd (alto sax), the PhattGroov Project has
given new definition to musical collaboration.
Combining heavy bass lines and melodic overtones
with a touch of smoothness and rhythm, PhattGroov
and the PhattGroov Project gives birth to a nu-jazz
sound like no other. The Phatt Groov Project is a
group on a mission, states one event attendee. A
mission to get people back in touch with real music. |
